Moon Garden — Privacy Policy

Moon Garden ("the App") is developed by Mobile Card Games & Travel Apps LLC. It is published on the App Store as Lunar Gardening Calendar and on Google Play as Moon Garden. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and how your privacy is protected. It covers both the iOS version (App Store) and the Android version (Google Play). Where the two versions differ, the difference is stated explicitly below.

1. Data We Collect

The App collects no personal data. The moon phase, zodiac sign, day type, and planting guidance you see are calculated on your device from published astronomical formulae and a crop database bundled inside the App. Nothing is looked up from a server, and the calendar works fully offline.

The only information the App stores is the settings and choices you make:

• Garden settings: your hemisphere, which zodiac tradition the calendar follows (sidereal or tropical), and whether you have finished onboarding.
• Favorite crops: the crops you star, kept as a plain list of crop identifiers such as "tomato" or "garlic" — no notes, photos, or garden address.
• Alert preferences: whether the morning digest and rest-day alerts are switched on, and the time of day you picked for the digest.
• Purchase state: whether your Pro subscription is active, plus counters the App uses to avoid showing you the same offer too often.

All of it is stored on your device. Your garden settings, favorites, reminder preferences, and subscription status are also copied to your own private cloud storage so they follow you to your other devices — Apple iCloud on iOS, Android cloud backup on Android. See Data Storage and Retention below. The App does not collect your name, email address, location, photos, contacts, health data, or advertising identifiers. It contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no ad network, and no cross-app tracking, and it never asks for location, camera, photo-library, or microphone access. Nothing records which screens you open or which crops you look at — not on a server, and not on your own device. The only permission it ever asks you for is notifications, and only if you turn an alert on. The Android version additionally declares the alarm and restart permissions it needs to deliver a reminder at the minute you chose and to restore your reminders after the phone reboots, plus the Google Play billing permission; none of these prompt you or read anything about you. The Android version also explicitly removes the Android advertising ID (AD_ID) permission, so it cannot read one.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To build your calendar: your hemisphere and zodiac tradition decide which days are Leaf, Root, Flower, or Fruit days and which sowing windows apply; your favorites decide which crops the App names first.
• Home-screen widget: those same settings are shared with the App's widget in private storage on your device — an App Group on iOS, the App's own private preferences on Android — so the widget shows the same calendar you see in the App. The widget performs its own calculations and makes no network requests. The iOS version also offers Lock Screen complications; the Android version has a home-screen widget only.
• Notifications: if you turn on the morning digest or rest-day alerts, the App schedules local notifications on your device up to two weeks ahead. They are composed on your device and delivered by the operating system — there is no push server, the App never receives a push token, and no notification content leaves your device. On Android they are re-scheduled after the device restarts, which is why that version declares the restart permission. You can switch them off in the App, or in iOS Settings or Android Settings.
• Hemisphere: the App's first guess at your hemisphere comes from your device's region setting — a device set to Australia or New Zealand starts in the Southern Hemisphere. It does not use GPS or any location service and holds no location permission on either platform, and you can change the setting at any time.

3. Third-Party Data Sharing

Nothing about your garden is shared with anyone. The only third parties involved are purchase-related:

• Apple (apple.com/legal/privacy) — iOS only: processes all in-app purchases and subscriptions; we never see your payment card details. Apple also carries the iCloud settings sync described below, and operates the rating prompt, the store overlay used to show our other apps, and the iOS share sheet.
• Google Play (Google privacy policy) — Android only: processes all in-app purchases and subscriptions on Android; we never see your payment card details. Google also carries the Android cloud backup of your settings described below, and operates the in-app rating card and the Android share sheet.

  RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) — iOS and Android: manages subscription state. RevenueCat receives purchase and transaction tokens from Apple or Google Play, a random anonymous app-user ID, and the basic device and country information carried with those requests — never your name or email, and nothing about your calendar, settings, or favorite crops. It acts as our service provider and processes this only on our behalf.

• Day cards you share: when you share a day card, your device's share sheet sends the image and text wherever you choose to send it. The message includes a link to the App's store page carrying a campaign tag, which lets Apple or Google tell us in aggregate how many installs came from shares. The tag identifies the sharing screen, never you.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party. Neither version contains an analytics SDK, a crash-reporting SDK, or an ad network. Because there is no advertising and no cross-app tracking, the iOS version never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission, and the Android version removes the advertising-ID permission outright.

4. Data Storage and Retention

• On your device: your settings, favorites, and alert preferences are stored in the App's own private local storage, shared only with the App's own widget. They remain until you change them or uninstall the App.
• iCloud: your hemisphere, zodiac tradition, favorite crops, reminder preferences, and a flag recording whether your subscription is active are synced across your devices through Apple's iCloud key-value storage, tied to your Apple ID. This is what lets you set up your garden on an iPhone and find it already set up on an iPad, and lets a subscription you bought on one device be recognized on the other. The data sits in your own iCloud account, we cannot read it, and switching iCloud Drive off in iOS Settings stops the syncing — the App then runs entirely from the copy on your device. Your calendar itself is never stored anywhere, in iCloud or otherwise: it is recalculated whenever it is needed.
• Android cloud backup — Android only: on Android the same settings, favorites, reminder preferences, and subscription flag are copied to your own Google account by Android's built-in backup service, which is what restores your garden when you set up a new phone. The backup lives in your Google account, not ours, and we cannot read it. You can switch it off in Android Settings under Google › Backup, and the App then runs entirely from the copy on your device.

  On our servers: we operate no servers for this App. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to, so there is no copy of your data anywhere for us to hold.

• Support email: if you contact support from Settings, the message is pre-filled with the App version you are running — and, on iOS, your iOS version and device model — so we can reproduce the problem. You can delete that line before sending, and whatever else you write is entirely your choice.

5. Data Security

The calendar, the crop guidance, and the widget all run entirely offline on your device and never transmit anything — there is no server of ours to look anything up from, and we operate none. The only network traffic the App itself generates is purchase processing: verifying and restoring your subscription through the App Store or Google Play and through RevenueCat, over encrypted HTTPS. The settings sync is carried by the operating system rather than by the App — Apple's encrypted iCloud infrastructure on iOS, Android's backup service on Android.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Change or clear your hemisphere, zodiac tradition, favorite crops, and alert preferences in the App at any time.
• Turn notifications off in the App, or revoke the notification permission entirely in iOS Settings or Android Settings.
• Stop the cross-device syncing — switch off iCloud Drive for the App in iOS Settings, or turn off backup in Android Settings under Google › Backup. The App keeps working from the copy on your device.
• Remove all App data from a device by uninstalling the App. The synced copy lives in your own iCloud or Google account, which you control through your device's system settings.
• Manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings under your Apple Account, or in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions; refunds are handled by Apple or Google.

Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA) give you rights over your personal data, including the rights to know, access, correct, and delete it. Because we do not hold your data on servers we operate, there is typically nothing for us to access or delete on request — deleting the App deletes your data. Where the App does process data in transit, or a third-party service described above collects data, you may contact us at the email below to exercise your rights, and we will respond as required by applicable law.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. In some regions, including the European Union, a higher minimum age applies to consent for data processing; the same statement applies there — we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the applicable age.

8. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting user data on any system we operate, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
