Solunar Fishing Times — Privacy Policy

Solunar Fishing Times ("the App") is developed by Mobile Card Games & Travel Apps LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and how your privacy is protected.

1. Data We Collect

The App collects no personal data. It has no account, no sign-up, and no login — it works fully on first launch. The only data involved is data that stays on your device:

• Your location (only if you allow it): Used to work out the best fishing and hunting times where you are. See the Location section below.
• Saved spots: The name, coordinates, and time zone of any fishing or hunting spot you save, plus the last spot you looked at. Stored on your device.
• Your settings: Fishing or hunting mode, alert preferences (major/minor periods, lead time, daily briefing), units, and onboarding state. Stored on your device.
• Purchase information: Transaction records for the Pro subscription or Lifetime purchase, handled by Apple and RevenueCat.

The App does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. It contains no analytics SDK, no tracking, no advertising network, and no Firebase. It does not ask for camera, photo library, microphone, or contacts access — those permissions are not in the App at all.

2. Location

Location is optional. The App only asks for it when you tap “Use My Location” — never at launch and never during onboarding. If you prefer not to share it, you can pick any spot on the map instead and the App works exactly the same way.

Here is exactly what happens with your coordinates:

• The forecast is computed on your device. Feeding times, major and minor periods, moon phase, and sun and moon rise/set are pure astronomy math running locally on your iPhone or iPad. Your coordinates are not sent anywhere for this, and it works with no network connection at all.
• Place name and time zone come from Apple. To label your spot (“Traverse City”) and to use the correct local time zone, the App asks Apple's geocoding service to resolve your coordinates. Those coordinates are processed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. The same applies to the map you use to pick a spot, which is Apple Maps.
• Tide lookups do not include your location. The App downloads NOAA's public list of US tide stations and finds the nearest one to you on your device. Only that station's public ID and a date are sent to NOAA — never your coordinates. See Third-Party Data Sharing below.
• Stored only on your device. Your most recent coordinate and place name are cached locally so the App can show a forecast immediately the next time you open it, and are shared with the App's own home-screen widget through a private storage area on your device. No server we operate ever receives your location.

3. Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Three parties are involved, and none of them receives personal information about you:

• Apple: Resolves coordinates into a place name and time zone, provides the map used to pick a spot, and processes your purchase. We never see your payment card details.
• RevenueCat (revenuecat.com): Manages subscriptions and the Lifetime purchase. RevenueCat receives purchase and transaction tokens and a random anonymous app-user ID — never your name, email, or location.
• NOAA (tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov): The App requests tide predictions from the free public NOAA CO-OPS service, which is run by the US government. Each request contains only a public tide-station ID and a date — no coordinates, no identifiers, no account. Like any web request, NOAA can see the network address it came from. If you are inland or outside the US, no tide request is made at all.

4. Data Storage and Retention

• On your device: Saved spots, your last known coordinate and place name, and your settings are stored locally. A copy of the active spot and your Pro status is placed in a private app-group container so the home-screen widget can show your forecast. NOAA's public tide-station list is kept in the App's cache and refreshed about once a month.
• On our servers: Nothing. We do not operate servers that store your data.
• Notifications: Feeding-time alerts and the daily briefing are scheduled locally by your device from the on-device forecast. There is no push server, and no device token is sent to us or anyone else. Notification permission is only requested when you turn alerts on.
• Background refresh: When iOS wakes the App in the background, it only recomputes your forecast locally and refreshes your alerts and widget. No data is uploaded.
• Deletion: Delete a saved spot in the App at any time, or turn location off in iOS Settings. Uninstalling the App removes everything it stored on your device.

5. Data Security

The strongest protection here is that the forecast never leaves your device — it is calculated on your iPhone or iPad and works offline. The only network traffic the App generates is Apple geocoding and map lookups, NOAA tide predictions, and App Store purchase processing, all over encrypted HTTPS connections.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Deny or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings — the App still works, using a spot you pick on the map.
• Turn off feeding-time alerts, or deny notification permission entirely.
• Delete any saved spot in the App, or remove all App data by uninstalling it.

Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA) give you rights over your personal data, including the rights to know, access, correct, and delete it. Because we do not hold your data on servers we operate, there is typically nothing for us to access or delete on request — deleting the App deletes your data. Where the App does process data in transit, or a third-party service described above collects data, you may contact us at the email below to exercise your rights, and we will respond as required by applicable law.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. In some regions, including the European Union, a higher minimum age applies to consent for data processing; the same statement applies there — we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the applicable age.

8. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting user data on any system we operate, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
